Hi guys, I was hoping to use my controller on my pc and tablet. So I tried connecting via play and charge usb adapter. Is the play and charge kit adapter literally for charging only, or is it supposed to allow input to the pc so I can play? It also says that exact same line in Device Manager under Xbox peripherals.
But on both PC and tablet I can't actually get it to provide input. The jewel on the controller will never lock into a player one led, it just flashes. Here's a screen grab of my pc settings with it being detected.
While this screen grab is from my pc, it exactly the same on windows rt. I would love to use my xbox one controller on windows RT but it isnt supported which really sucks so that's why I need help using a controller.

All the ones being sold on the likes of websites such as eBay and Amazon are third party. They do work, but you may need to do the setup manually. If you run into issues, bookmark this link. The link is for Windows 7, however the same procedure should work for Windows 8 and Windows 8. It doesn't do anything else. Other than that, you could buy a wired controller. Was this reply helpful? That explains my troubles. There is no controller driver to download for Windows 8 because the driver is already installed as part of the Operating System.
If you have a wired Xbox controller, just plug it in, it will work straight away. For wireless controllers you still need a wireless gaming receiver. And yes, the receiver does work with Windows 8RT.
